Terms Used In Alaska Statutes 28.20.280

  • department: means the Department of Administration. See Alaska Statutes 28.90.990
  • judgment: means a judgment that is final by expiration without appeal of the time within which an appeal may be taken, or final by affirmation on appeal, given by a court of a state or of the United States, upon a cause of action arising out of the ownership, maintenance, or use of a vehicle of a type subject to registration under the laws of this state, for damages, including damages for care and loss of services, because of bodily injury to or death of a person, or for damages because of injury to or destruction of property, including the loss of use of property, or upon a cause of action on an agreement of settlement for such damages.   • motor vehicle: means a vehicle which is self-propelled except a vehicle moved by human or animal power. See Alaska Statutes 28.90.990
  • person: includes a corporation, company, partnership, firm, association, organization, business trust, or society, as well as a natural person. See Alaska Statutes 01.10.060

If a person fails within 30 days to satisfy a judgment arising out of a motor vehicle accident, the clerk of the court, or the judge if there is no clerk, in which the judgment is given, shall forward to the department a certified copy of the judgment and a certificate of facts relative to the judgment.
