- municipality: means a political subdivision incorporated under the laws of the state that is a home rule or general law city, a home rule or general law borough, or a unified municipality. See Alaska Statutes 01.10.060
A municipality is not required to comply with the provisions of Alaska Stat. § 39.90.100 – 39.90.150 if the municipality has adopted an ordinance that provides protections for its employees and other persons that are substantially similar to the protections under Alaska Stat. § 39.90.100 – 39.90.150. Notwithstanding Alaska Stat. § 29.25.070, the ordinance may provide for a civil penalty for violation of the ordinance not to exceed $10,000.
