When a funeral director, embalmer or alkaline hydrolysis operator is requested to cremate or prepare for cremation or alkaline hydrolysis the body of a dead person, the funeral director, embalmer or alkaline hydrolysis operator or any other person having knowledge of an intention to dispose of human remains shall notify the county medical examiner or alternate medical examiner to review the death certificate. If after reviewing the death certificate the county medical examiner or alternate medical examiner is satisfied that there is no evidence of foul play or violence, the examiner shall so certify.
Terms Used In Arizona Laws 11-599
- Alternate medical examiner: means a physician who has training and competence in the principles of death investigation and who performs or directs the conduct of death investigations. See Arizona Laws 11-591
- Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
- Medical examiner: means a forensic pathologist who performs or directs the conduct of death investigations. See Arizona Laws 11-591
- Person: means an individual, corporation, business trust, estate, trust, partnership, limited liability company, association, joint venture, public corporation, government or governmental subdivision, agency or instrumentality or any other legal or commercial entity. See Arizona Laws 11-487.01
