All policies issued, delivered or renewed on or after July 1, 2017 by a disability insurer in this state must provide coverage for lawful health care services that are provided by a health care provider to an insured regardless of the familial relationship of the health care provider to the insured if the health care service would be covered were it provided to an insured who was not related to the health care provider. The policy may limit the coverage to those health care providers who are members of the disability insurer’s provider network. This section does not apply to disability income.

- insured: as used in this article shall not be construed as preventing a person other than the insured with a proper insurable interest from making application for and owning a policy covering the insured or from being entitled under such a policy to any indemnities, benefits and rights provided therein.
