Arizona Laws 28-4623. Transporter certificate; transporter license plates and tabs
A. A transporter may apply to the department on the appropriate form for a certificate containing a general distinguishing number and for two or more single transporter license plates.
Terms Used In Arizona Laws 28-4623
- Department: means the department of transportation acting directly or through its duly authorized officers and agents. See Arizona Laws 28-101
- Transporter: means a person who is lawfully engaged in the business of transporting or delivering vehicles that are not the person's own and vehicles of a type otherwise required to be registered, by the driveaway or towaway methods, from a point of manufacture, assembly or distribution or from the owner of the vehicles to a dealer or sales agent of a manufacturer or to any consignee designated by the shipper or consignor. B. The applicant shall submit proof of the applicant’s status as a bona fide transporter as reasonably required, tender the proper fees as required by section 28-4629 and submit proof of compliance with chapter 16, article 4 of this title.
C. On granting the application, the department shall issue to the applicant a registration certificate containing the applicant’s name, address and identifying status and the general distinguishing number assigned solely to the applicant.
D. The department shall issue single serially numbered transporter license plates for which the applicant applied. The transporter license plates shall display a symbol identifying the status of the applicant.
E. A certificate or transporter license plate or tab expires at midnight on December 31 of each year.
F. In lieu of issuing new plates annually, the department may furnish and issue tabs to indicate the year for which the plates are valid.
