• Accused: means a juvenile who is referred to juvenile court for committing a delinquent act. See Arizona Laws 8-382
• Acquittal:
  1. Judgement that a criminal defendant has not been proved guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
  2. A verdict of "not guilty."
   
• Address: means a mailing address. See Arizona Laws 10-140
• Adult court: means the appropriate justice court, municipal court or criminal division of the superior court that has jurisdiction to hear proceedings concerning offenses committed by juveniles as provided in sections 8-327 and 13-501. See Arizona Laws 8-201
• Allegation: something that someone says happened.
• Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant.
• Appellate: About appeals; an appellate court has the power to review the judgement of another lower court or tribunal.
• Arrest: means the actual custodial restraint or temporary custody of a person. See Arizona Laws 8-382
• Commission: means the Arizona corporation commission. See Arizona Laws 10-140
• County board: means the county board of supervisors sitting as the county board of equalization. See Arizona Laws 42-11001
• Court: means the superior court of this state. See Arizona Laws 10-140
• Court: means the juvenile division of the superior court when exercising its jurisdiction over children in any proceeding relating to delinquency. See Arizona Laws 8-382
• Custodial agency: means any law enforcement officer or agency, a sheriff, a county juvenile detention center, the department of juvenile corrections or a secure mental health facility that has custody of a person who is arrested or in custody for a delinquent or incorrigible offense. See Arizona Laws 8-382
• Deed: The legal instrument used to transfer title in real property from one person to another.
• Delinquency proceeding: means any hearing, argument or other matter that is scheduled or held by a juvenile court judge, commissioner or hearing officer and that relates to an alleged or adjudicated delinquent offense. See Arizona Laws 8-382
• Delinquent: means a child who is adjudicated to have committed a delinquent act. See Arizona Laws 8-382
• Delinquent act: means an act to which this article applies pursuant to section 8-381. See Arizona Laws 8-382
• Deliver: includes sending by mail, private courier, fax or electronic transmission. See Arizona Laws 10-140
• Delivery: means actual receipt by the person or entity to which directed and for electronic transmissions means receipt as described in section 44-7015, subsection B. See Arizona Laws 10-140
• Department: means the Arizona department of agriculture. See Arizona Laws 3-101
• Department: means the department of child safety. See Arizona Laws 8-201
• Department: means the department of revenue. See Arizona Laws 42-1001
• Detention: means the temporary confinement of a juvenile who requires secure care in a physically restricting facility that is completely surrounded by a locked and physically secure barrier with restricted ingress and egress for the protection of the juvenile or the community pending court disposition or as a condition of probation. See Arizona Laws 8-201
• Director: means the director of the department. See Arizona Laws 8-201
• Dismissal: The dropping of a case by the judge without further consideration or hearing. ^Source:
• Electronic transmission: means an electronic record as defined in section 44-7002 that is sent pursuant to section 44-7015. See Arizona Laws 10-140
• Email: means :

  (a) An electronic transmission of a message to an email address. See Arizona Laws 42-1001

• Entity: includes a corporation, foreign corporation, not for profit corporation, profit and not for profit unincorporated association, nonprofit corporation, close corporation, corporation sole or limited liability company, a professional corporation, association or limited liability company, a business trust, estate, partnership, registered limited liability partnership, trust or joint venture, two or more persons having a joint or common economic interest, any person other than an individual and a state, the United States and a foreign government. See Arizona Laws 10-140
• Equitable: Pertaining to civil suits in "equity" rather than in "law." In English legal history, the courts of "law" could order the payment of damages and could afford no other remedy. See damages. A separate court of "equity" could order someone to do something or to cease to do something. See, e.g., injunction. In American jurisprudence, the federal courts have both legal and equitable power, but the distinction is still an important one. For example, a trial by jury is normally available in "law" cases but not in "equity" cases. ^{Source: U.S. Courts}
• Executed by the corporation: means executed by manual or facsimile signature on behalf of the corporation by a duly authorized officer or, if the corporation is in the hands of a receiver or trustee, by the receiver or trustee. See Arizona Laws 10-140
• Executor: A male person named in a will to carry out the decedent
• Federal milk ordinance: means the recommendations of the United States public health service grade "A" pasteurized milk ordinance with administrative procedures. See Arizona Laws 3-601
• Filing: means the commission completing the following procedure with respect to any document delivered for that purpose:

  (a) Determining that the filing fee requirements of section 10-122 have been satisfied. See Arizona Laws 10-140

• Final disposition: means the ultimate termination of the delinquency proceeding by a court, including dismissal, acquittal, transfer to adult court or imposition of a disposition after an adjudication for a delinquent offense. See Arizona Laws 8-382
• Foreclosure: A legal process in which property that is collateral or security for a loan may be sold to help repay the loan when the loan is in default. ^{Source: OCC}
• Frozen desserts: means ice cream, frozen custard, french ice cream, ice milk, quiescently frozen confection, quiescently frozen dairy confection, french custard ice cream, artificially sweetened ice cream, manufactured desserts mix, whipped cream confection, bisque tortoni, sherbets, water ice and mellorine frozen desserts and all such other products, together with any mix used in making such frozen desserts, and any other products which are similar in appearance, odor or taste to such products or are prepared or frozen as frozen desserts are customarily prepared and frozen, whether made with dairy products or nondairy products. • Immediate family: means a victim's spouse, parent, child, sibling, grandparent or lawful guardian. See Arizona Laws 8-382
• Individual: includes the estate of an incompetent or deceased individual. See Arizona Laws 10-140
• juvenile: means an individual who is under eighteen years of age. See Arizona Laws 8-201
• Juvenile court: means the juvenile division of the superior court when exercising its jurisdiction over children in any proceeding relating to delinquency, dependency or incorrigibility. See Arizona Laws 8-201
• Known place of business: means the known place of business required to be maintained pursuant to section 10-501. See Arizona Laws 10-140
• Law enforcement officer: means a peace officer, sheriff, deputy sheriff, municipal police officer or constable. See Arizona Laws 8-201
• Lawful representative: means a person who is designated by the victim or appointed by the court and who will act in the best interests of the victim. See Arizona Laws 8-382
• Month: means a calendar month unless otherwise expressed. See Arizona Laws 1-215
• Mortgage: The written agreement pledging property to a creditor as collateral for a loan.
• Mortgagee: The person to whom property is mortgaged and who has loaned the money.
• Mortgagor: The person who pledges property to a creditor as collateral for a loan and who receives the money.
• Partnership: A voluntary contract between two or more persons to pool some or all of their assets into a business, with the agreement that there will be a proportional sharing of profits and losses.
• Person: means a natural person, individual, proprietor, proprietorship, company, corporation, organization, association, joint venture, partner, partnership, trust, estate or limited liability company, the federal or state government, a political subdivision of a state or any other legal entity or combination of entities that owns, controls or has possession of real or personal property. See Arizona Laws 42-11001
• Person: includes a corporation, company, partnership, firm, association or society, as well as a natural person. See Arizona Laws 1-215
• Petition: means a written statement of the essential facts that allege delinquency, incorrigibility or dependency. See Arizona Laws 8-201
• Petty offense: A federal misdemeanor punishable by six months or less in prison. ^{Source: U.S. Courts}
• Plea agreement: An arrangement between the prosecutor, the defense attorney, and the defendant in which the defendant agrees to plead guilty in exchange for special considerations. ^Source:
• Pleadings: Written statements of the parties in a civil case of their positions. In the federal courts, the principal pleadings are the complaint and the answer.
• Population: means the population according to the most recent United States decennial census. See Arizona Laws 1-215
• Postadjudication release: means release on probation, intensive probation, work furlough, community supervision or home detention, release on conditional liberty pursuant to section 41-2818 by the department of juvenile corrections or any other permanent, conditional or temporary release from confinement, discharge or completion of commitment by the department of juvenile corrections, a sheriff, a municipal jail, a juvenile detention center, a residential treatment facility or a secure mental health facility. • Principal office: means the office, in or out of this state, so designated in the annual report where the principal executive offices of a domestic or foreign corporation are located or in any other document executed by the corporation by an officer and delivered to the commission for filing. See Arizona Laws 10-140
• Probation: A sentencing alternative to imprisonment in which the court releases convicted defendants under supervision as long as certain conditions are observed.
• Process: means a citation, writ or summons issued in the course of judicial proceedings. See Arizona Laws 1-215
• Property: includes both real and personal property. See Arizona Laws 1-215
• Release: means no longer in the custody of the custodial agency and includes transfer from one custodial agency to another custodial agency. See Arizona Laws 8-382
• Restitution: The court-ordered payment of money by the defendant to the victim for damages caused by the criminal action.
• Rights: means any right granted to the victim by the laws of this state. See Arizona Laws 8-382
• Roll: means the assessment and tax roll. See Arizona Laws 42-11001
• Service of process: The service of writs or summonses to the appropriate party.
• Valuation: means the full cash value or limited property value that is determined for real or personal property, as applicable. See Arizona Laws 42-11001
• Victim: means a person against whom the delinquent act was committed, or if the person is killed or incapacitated, the person's spouse, parent, child, grandparent or sibling, any other person related to the person by consanguinity or affinity to the second degree or any other lawful representative of the person, except if the person or the person's spouse, parent, child, grandparent, sibling, other person related to the person by consanguinity or affinity to the second degree or other lawful representative is in custody for an offense or is the accused. • written: includes blockchain technology as defined in section 44-7061. See Arizona Laws 10-140
