(a) The council shall not accept applications to issue any new certificates to practice as a certified massage practitioner on or after January 1, 2015.
(b) Certificates to practice as a certified massage practitioner for applications accepted prior to January 1, 2015, may be renewed without any additional educational requirements.
Terms Used In California Business and Professions Code 4604.1
- Certificate: means a valid certificate issued by the council pursuant to this chapter. See California Business and Professions Code 4601
- Council: means the California Massage Therapy Council created pursuant to this chapter, which shall be a nonprofit organization exempt from taxation under Section 501(c)(3) of Title 26 of the United States Code. See California Business and Professions Code 4601
- Massage: means the scientific manipulation of the soft tissues. See California Business and Professions Code 4601
- Massage practitioner: means a person who is certified by the council pursuant to Section 4604. See California Business and Professions Code 4601
(c) A massage practitioner certificate and any identification card issued by the council, shall be surrendered to the council by any certificate holder whose certificate is suspended or revoked.
