(a) Notwithstanding any other law, a city, county, or city and county shall not enact or enforce an ordinance that conflicts with this chapter or § 51034 of the Government Code.
(b) Nothing in this chapter shall prevent a city, county, or city and county from licensing, regulating, prohibiting, or permitting an individual who provides massage for compensation without a valid certificate.
Terms Used In California Business and Professions Code 4612
- Certificate: means a valid certificate issued by the council pursuant to this chapter. See California Business and Professions Code 4601
- City: includes city and county. See California Business and Professions Code 18
- Compensation: means a payment, loan, advance, donation, contribution, deposit, or gift of money, or anything of value. See California Business and Professions Code 4601
- County: includes city and county. See California Business and Professions Code 17
- Massage: means the scientific manipulation of the soft tissues. See California Business and Professions Code 4601
