It is unlawful to knowingly capture for sale, transport for sale or sell wild rodents, except as provided in Article 1 (commencing with Section 1000) of Chapter 3 of Division 2.

- Transport: includes offer or receive for transportation. See California Fish and Game Code 88
- Wild rodents: as used in this chapter means wild ground squirrels, chipmunks, rats, mice or any other members of the order Rodentia native to California except muskrats and beavers. See California Fish and Game Code 2575
