A local government may, but is not required to, conduct a review or appeal regarding allocation data provided by the department or the council of governments pertaining the locality’s share of the regional housing need or the submittal of data or information for a proposed allocation, as permitted by this article.

Terms Used In California Government Code 65584.2
- Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant.
- Council of governments: means a single or multicounty council created by a joint powers agreement pursuant to Chapter 5 (commencing with Section 6500) of Division 1 of Title 1. See California Government Code 65582
- Department: means the Department of Housing and Community Development. See California Government Code 65582
