The division or a public entity shall not issue the original certificate of inspection for an amusement ride until it receives certification in writing by an engineer qualified under the Civil and Professional Engineers Act (Chapter 7 (commencing with Section 6700) of Division 3 of the Business and Professions Code) that such amusement ride meets the requirements established by the division for amusement rides.

  • Amusement ride: includes the business of operating bungee jumping services or providing services to facilitate bungee jumping, but does not include slides, playground equipment, coin-operated devices or conveyances which operate directly on the ground or on the surface or pavement directly on the ground or the operation of amusement devices of a permanent nature.   • Division: means the Division of Occupational Safety and Health. See California Labor Code 6302
