(a) The Department of Parks and Recreation shall establish a local assistance program to distribute grants to the most critically underserved communities across the state, on a competitive basis, to eligible cities, counties, joint powers authorities, districts, and nonprofit organizations for the acquisition or development, or both, of property for parks and recreation areas and facilities.

(b) The Department of Parks and Recreation shall encourage joint partnership projects, if available, between two or more agencies, including, but not limited to, school districts, nonprofit organizations, and local governmental agencies in order to enhance investment of public resources.

  • department: means the Department of Parks and Recreation and "director" means the Director of Parks and Recreation. See California Public Resources Code 5001.1

  • Partnership: A voluntary contract between two or more persons to pool some or all of their assets into a business, with the agreement that there will be a proportional sharing of profits and losses.
