  • Account: means the Roberti-Z'berg-Harris Urban Open-Space and Recreation Program Account in the General Fund. See California Public Resources Code 5621
  • Baseline: Projection of the receipts, outlays, and other budget amounts that would ensue in the future without any change in existing policy. Baseline projections are used to gauge the extent to which proposed legislation, if enacted into law, would alter current spending and revenue levels.

  • Controller: means the State Controller. See California Revenue and Taxation Code 21
  • Corporation: as used in this part means a corporation which is organized under, or subject to this part, including a central organization. See California Corporations Code 12232
  • County: includes "city and county. See California Welfare and Institutions Code 14

  • Directors: means natural persons, designated in the articles or bylaws or elected by the incorporators, and their successors and natural persons designated, elected, or appointed by any other name or title to act as members of the governing body of the corporation. See California Corporations Code 12233
  • District: as used in this article , means any regional park district, regional park and open-space district, or regional open-space district formed pursuant to this article. See California Public Resources Code 5500
  • Districts: means regional park districts formed under Article 3 (commencing with Section 5500) of Chapter 3. See California Public Resources Code 5621
  • Domestic partner: means one of two persons who have filed a Declaration of Domestic Partnership with the Secretary of State pursuant to Division 2. See California Probate Code 37
  • Freeway: means a highway in respect to which the owners of abutting lands have no right or easement of access to or from their abutting lands or in respect to which such owners have only limited or restricted right or easement of access. See California Streets and Highways Code 23.5

  • Medi-Cal: means the California Medical Assistance Program. See California Welfare and Institutions Code 14063
  • newspaper: means a newspaper of general circulation. See California Revenue and Taxation Code 36.5
  • Nonurbanized area: means any city, county, or district which does not qualify as an urbanized area or urbanized county under the definitions in subdivision (c). See California Public Resources Code 5621
  • Parent: means any individual entitled to take as a parent under this code by intestate succession from the child whose relationship is involved. See California Probate Code 54
  • partnership: shall include limited liability company, registered limited liability partnership, and foreign limited liability partnership, except where the context or the specific provisions of this division otherwise require. See California Revenue and Taxation Code 28.5
  • Person: includes any person, firm, partnership, general partner of a partnership, limited liability company, registered limited liability partnership, foreign limited liability partnership, association, corporation, company, syndicate, estate, trust, business trust, or organization of any kind. See California Revenue and Taxation Code 19
  • Person: means an individual, corporation, government or governmental subdivision or agency, business trust, estate, trust, partnership, limited liability company, association, or other entity. See California Probate Code 56
  • Person: means any person, firm, partnership, association, corporation, organization, limited liability company, or business trust. See California Streets and Highways Code 19
  • Precedent: A court decision in an earlier case with facts and law similar to a dispute currently before a court. Precedent will ordinarily govern the decision of a later similar case, unless a party can show that it was wrongly decided or that it differed in some significant way.
  • public body: means a city or special district as defined in §. See California Streets and Highways Code 8345
  • Public defender: Represent defendants who can't afford an attorney in criminal matters.
  • Service of process: The service of writs or summonses to the appropriate party.
  • Sexually violent offense: means the following acts when committed by force, violence, duress, menace, fear of immediate and unlawful bodily injury on the victim or another person, or threatening to retaliate in the future against the victim or any other person, and that are committed on, before, or after the effective date of this article and result in a conviction or a finding of not guilty by reason of insanity, as defined in subdivision (a): a felony violation of Section 261, 262, 264.   • Sexually violent predator: means a person who has been convicted of a sexually violent offense against one or more victims and who has a diagnosed mental disorder that makes the person a danger to the health and safety of others in that it is likely that he or she will engage in sexually violent criminal behavior. See California Welfare and Institutions Code 6600
  • Special major maintenance project: means a rehabilitation or refurbishing activity performed on an annual or more infrequent interval, excluding capital improvements and routinized or other regularly scheduled and performed tasks such as grounds mowing, hedge trimming, garbage removal, and watering. See California Public Resources Code 5621
  • Spouse: includes "registered domestic partner" as required by §. See California Revenue and Taxation Code 12.2

  • State: includes any state of the United States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, and any territory or possession subject to the legislative authority of the United States. See California Probate Code 74

  • Urbanized area: consists of a central city or cities and surrounding closely settled territory, as determined by the Department of Finance on the basis of the most recent verifiable census data. See California Public Resources Code 5621
  • Urbanized county: means any county with a population of 200,000 or more, as determined by the Department of Finance on the basis of the most recent verifiable census data. See California Public Resources Code 5621
  • Will: includes codicil and any testamentary instrument which merely appoints an executor or revokes or revises another will. See California Probate Code 88
