Every motor carrier of property with a carrier fleet of 20 or more commercial motor vehicles as defined in Section 34601 shall, under oath, file annually a report with the department indicating the number, classification, and compensation of all employees and owner-operator drivers hired or engaged during the reporting period. The department shall submit a copy of the report to the administrator of the corporation‘s workers’ compensation self-insurance plan if the corporation is self-insured, or to the carrier’s workers’ compensation insurer if the carrier’s workers’ compensation protection is provided by a policy or policies of insurance.

Terms Used In California Vehicle Code 34633

  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Department: means the Department of Motor Vehicles except, when used in Chapter 2 (commencing with Section 2100) of Division 2 and in Divisions 11 (commencing with Section 21000), 12 (commencing with Section 24000), 13 (commencing with Section 29000), 14 (commencing with Section 31600), 14.   • motor carrier of property: means any person who operates any commercial motor vehicle as defined in subdivision (c). See California Vehicle Code 34601
