“Owner” includes any of the following who own, control, operate, maintain, manage, or propose to construct a dam or reservoir:
(a)The state and its departments, institutions, agencies, and political subdivisions.
Terms Used In California Water Code 6005
- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
- Person: means any person, firm, association, organization, partnership, business trust, corporation, limited liability company, or company. See California Water Code 19
- State: means the State of California, unless applied to the different parts of the United States. See California Water Code 18
- United States: means the United States of America, and in relation to any particular matter includes the officers, agents, employees, agencies, or instrumentalities authorized to act in relation thereto. See California Water Code 20
(b) Every municipal or quasi-municipal corporation.
(c) Every public utility.
(d) Every district.
(e) Every person.
(f) The duly authorized agents, lessees, or trustees of any of the foregoing.
(g) Receivers or trustees appointed by any court for any of the foregoing.
“Owner” does not include the United States.
