(a) The commissioner shall have jurisdiction over the state highway system with all the powers and duties prescribed in this chapter, in title 13a and as otherwise provided by law.
Terms Used In Connecticut General Statutes 13b-24
- Commissioner: means the Commissioner of Transportation appointed pursuant to this chapter. See Connecticut General Statutes 13b-2
- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
- State highway system: has the meaning provided in sections 13a-14 and 13a-15. See Connecticut General Statutes 13b-2
- Transportation: means any form of transportation for persons or goods within, to or from the state, whether by highway, air, water, rail or any other means. See Connecticut General Statutes 13b-2
(b) The Commissioner of Transportation shall have general responsibility for the highways of the state, with all the powers and duties established under title 13a, this chapter and as otherwise provided by law.
