Connecticut General Statutes 19a-496a – Home health care, hospice home health care and home health aide agency services. Authorized practitioners in bordering states. Applicable regulations, policies, procedures
(a) Notwithstanding any provision of the regulations of Connecticut state agencies, all home health care agency, hospice home health care agency or home health aide agency services shall be performed upon the order of a physician or physician assistant licensed pursuant to chapter 370 or an advanced practice registered nurse licensed pursuant to chapter 378.
Terms Used In Connecticut General Statutes 19a-496a
- Home health aide agency: means a public or private organization, except a home health care agency, which provides in the patient's home or a substantially equivalent environment supportive services which may include, but are not limited to, assistance with personal hygiene, dressing, feeding and incidental household tasks essential to achieving adequate household and family management. - Home health care agency: means a public or private organization, or a subdivision thereof, engaged in providing professional nursing services and the following services, available twenty-four hours per day, in the patient's home or a substantially equivalent environment: Home health aide services as defined in this section, physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy or medical social services. (b) All home health care agency, hospice home health care agency and home health aide agency services that are required by law to be performed upon the order of a licensed physician, physician assistant or advanced practice registered nurse may be performed upon the order of a physician, a physician assistant or an advanced practice registered nurse licensed in a state that borders Connecticut. Any Department of Public Health agency regulation, policy or procedure that applies to a physician who orders home health care services, including related provisions such as review and approval of care plans for home health care services, shall also apply to a physician assistant or an advanced practice registered nurse who orders home health care services.
