The commissioner in his sole discretion may institute proceedings pursuant to sections 38a-911 to 38a-913, inclusive, at the request of the commissioner or other appropriate insurance official of the domiciliary state of any foreign or alien insurer having property located in this state.

Terms Used In Connecticut General Statutes 38a-956

  • Alien insurer: means any insurer that has been chartered by or organized or constituted within or under the laws of any jurisdiction or country without the United States. See Connecticut General Statutes 38a-1
  • Commissioner: means the Insurance Commissioner. See Connecticut General Statutes 38a-1
  • Insurance: means any agreement to pay a sum of money, provide services or any other thing of value on the happening of a particular event or contingency or to provide indemnity for loss in respect to a specified subject by specified perils in return for a consideration.
