Terms Used In Connecticut General Statutes > Chapter 394 - Television and Radio Service Dealers and Electronics Technicians

  • another: may extend and be applied to communities, companies, corporations, public or private, limited liability companies, societies and associations. See Connecticut General Statutes 1-1
  • Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant.
  • Apprentice electronics technician: means an individual to whom a permit as an apprentice has been issued pursuant to the provisions of section 20-351. See Connecticut General Statutes 20-342
  • Board: means the Electrical Work Board. See Connecticut General Statutes 20-342
  • Complaint: A written statement by the plaintiff stating the wrongs allegedly committed by the defendant.
  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Dish antenna: means a one-meter or less in diameter dish designed to receive direct broadcast satellite service, including direct to home satellite service, or to receive or transmit fixed wireless signals via satellite. See Connecticut General Statutes 20-342
  • Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
  • Licensed antenna technician: means any individual licensed pursuant to section 20-353. See Connecticut General Statutes 20-342
  • Licensed electronics technician: means any individual who has been licensed by the board pursuant to the provisions of section 20-350. See Connecticut General Statutes 20-342
  • Licensed radio electronics technician: means any individual licensed pursuant to section 20-353. See Connecticut General Statutes 20-342
  • Partnership: A voluntary contract between two or more persons to pool some or all of their assets into a business, with the agreement that there will be a proportional sharing of profits and losses.
  • Person: means any individual, firm, association, partnership, joint stock association, trust, limited liability company or corporation. See Connecticut General Statutes 20-342
  • Receiving equipment: means television or radio receiving apparatus and associated components, including, but not limited to, antenna receiving systems, phonographs, tape recorders and audiovisual equipment. See Connecticut General Statutes 20-342
  • Restitution: The court-ordered payment of money by the defendant to the victim for damages caused by the criminal action.
  • Service: means the installation, maintenance, repair, replacement, inspection and modification of receiving equipment. See Connecticut General Statutes 20-342
  • Service dealer: means a person engaging in the business of servicing receiving equipment, having an established location for the performance of such service. See Connecticut General Statutes 20-342
