- Abuse: means causing any physical injury to a child through unjustified force as defined in § 468(1)(c) of this title, torture, negligent treatment, sexual abuse, exploitation, maltreatment, mistreatment or any means other than accident. See Delaware Code Title 11 Sec. 1100
- Attack: means any action or series of actions causing, or which may cause, substantial damage or injury to persons or property by any means, including through biological, chemical, radiological, or nuclear means or through the use of other weapons, technologies, or processes. See Delaware Code Title 10 Sec. 1803
- Child: shall mean any individual less than 18 years of age. See Delaware Code Title 11 Sec. 1100
- Concurrent resolution: A legislative measure, designated "S. Con. Res." and numbered consecutively upon introduction, generally employed to address the sentiments of both chambers, to deal with issues or matters affecting both houses, such as a concurrent budget resolution, or to create a temporary joint committee. Concurrent resolutions are not submitted to the President/Governor and thus do not have the force of law.
- Conviction: A judgement of guilt against a criminal defendant.
- Delinquent child: means a child who commits an act which if committed by an adult would constitute a crime. See Delaware Code Title 11 Sec. 1100
- Emergency event: means an impending or existing attack, act of terrorism, disease, accident, or other natural or man-made disaster that does 1 or more of the following:
- Regular judge: means the individual holding an office under this chapter before the emergency event. See Delaware Code Title 10 Sec. 1803
- Serious physical injury: shall mean physical injury which creates a risk of death, or which causes disfigurement, impairment of health or loss or impairment of the function of any bodily organ or limb, or which causes the unlawful termination of a pregnancy without the consent of the pregnant female. See Delaware Code Title 11 Sec. 1100
- Special emergency judge: means an individual designated under this chapter to exercise the powers and discharge the duties of an office held by another individual who is unavailable until a successor is qualified and appointed as may be provided by the Delaware Constitution or other law of this State or until the other individual who is unavailable is able to resume the exercise of the powers and discharge the duties of the office. See Delaware Code Title 10 Sec. 1803
- Student: shall mean any person enrolled in a school grades preschool through 12. See Delaware Code Title 11 Sec. 617
- Unavailable: means either that a vacancy in an office under this chapter exists or that the regular judge is absent or unable to exercise the powers and discharge the duties of the office. See Delaware Code Title 10 Sec. 1803
- Year: means a calendar year, and is equivalent to the words "year of our Lord. See Delaware Code Title 1 Sec. 302
