(a) An insurer may pay, and a self-service storage producer may receive, a commission, service fee, or other valuable consideration dependent on the sale of insurance.

Terms Used In Delaware Code Title 18 Sec. 2066

  • Dependent: A person dependent for support upon another.
  • Owner: means the owner, operator, lessor, or sublessor of a self-service storage facility, him or her agent or any other person authorized by him or her to manage the facility or to receive rent from an occupant under a rental agreement. See Delaware Code Title 18 Sec. 2061
  • Self-service storage producer: means an owner who is licensed under this section. See Delaware Code Title 18 Sec. 2061

(b) A self-service storage producer may pay, and its employees or authorized representatives may receive, production payments or incentive payments if the payments are not dependent on the sale of insurance.

(c) An owner is not required to be licensed under this section solely to display and make available to occupants and prospective occupants brochures and other promotional materials created by or on behalf of an authorized insurer or by a surplus lines insurer.
