- adult person: means a person of the age of 18 years or older. See Delaware Code Title 1 Sec. 302
- Affidavit: A written statement of facts confirmed by the oath of the party making it, before a notary or officer having authority to administer oaths.
- Aftercare: means assistance provided by a lay caregiver to a patient in a residence after the patient's discharge from a hospital that does not require the lay caregiver to be a health-care provider. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 3001J
- Allegation: something that someone says happened.
- Annuity: A periodic (usually annual) payment of a fixed sum of money for either the life of the recipient or for a fixed number of years. A series of payments under a contract from an insurance company, a trust company, or an individual. Annuity payments are made at regular intervals over a period of more than one full year.
- Answer: The formal written statement by a defendant responding to a civil complaint and setting forth the grounds for defense.
- Arrest: Taking physical custody of a person by lawful authority.
- Attachment: A procedure by which a person's property is seized to pay judgments levied by the court.
- Authority: means a body politic and corporate created pursuant to this chapter or, if such body politic and corporate shall be abolished, the board, body or commission succeeding to the principal functions thereof or to which the powers given by this chapter to such body politic and corporate shall be given by law. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 1401
- Balloon: means a bag made from rubber, latex, polychloroprene, nylon, mylar, or other material which is or can be filled with air, water, or a gas, including helium, hydrogen, nitrous oxide, or oxygen. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 1603
- Bank: means a bank or trust company created under this title or a national banking association created under the National Bank Act (12 U. See Delaware Code Title 5 Sec. 801
- Bank: means a bank or trust company existing under the laws of the State, or a national banking association existing under the National Bank Act, as amended (12 U. See Delaware Code Title 5 Sec. 821
- Bank holding company: means a company, as defined by the federal Bank Holding Company Act of 1956 (12 U. See Delaware Code Title 5 Sec. 851
- Bar: means any indoor area open to the public operated primarily for the sale and service of alcoholic beverages for on-premises consumption and where the service of food is secondary to the consumption of such beverages. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 2902
- Bedding: shall mean any mattress, mattress pad, mattress protector pad, box spring, upholstered spring, upholstered bed, davenport, upholstered sofa bed, quilted pad, comforter, bolster, cushion, pillow, featherbed, sleeping bag or any other bag, case or cover made of leather, textile or other material which is stuffed or filled in whole or in part with concealed material, which is intended for use by any human being for sleeping or reclining purposes. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 2101
- Board: means the governing body of an authority. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 1401
- Bonds: means and includes notes, bonds and other evidences of indebtedness or obligations which each authority is authorized to issue pursuant to § 1408 of this title. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 1401
- Candidate: means a person who seeks nomination for or election to public office, or who has taken action necessary under the law to qualify for nomination or election under the laws of the State, or has authorized the solicitation of any contribution or the making of any expenditure in that person's behalf. See Delaware Code Title 15 Sec. 8002
- Candidate committee: means each political committee formed on behalf of a candidate for public office. See Delaware Code Title 15 Sec. 8002
- Cash: includes currency, money orders, travelers checks and other negotiable instruments that do not disclose on their face the true name of the contributor. See Delaware Code Title 15 Sec. 8002
- Chapter: includes , in addition to the provisions of this chapter, the rules and regulations made by the Commissioner. See Delaware Code Title 15 Sec. 8002
- Clearly identified candidate: means that the name, a photograph or a drawing of the candidate appears or the identity of the candidate is otherwise apparent by unambiguous reference. See Delaware Code Title 15 Sec. 8002
- Comfortable: means any cover, quilt or quilted article made of cotton or other textile material and stuffed or filled with fiber, cotton, wool, hair, jute, feathers, feather down, kapok or other soft material. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 2101
- Commissioner: means the State Election Commissioner, or the designee of the Commissioner. See Delaware Code Title 15 Sec. 8002
- Commissioner: means the State Bank Commissioner of the State of Delaware. See Delaware Code Title 5 Sec. 801
- Committee membership: Legislators are assigned to specific committees by their party. Seniority, regional balance, and political philosophy are the most prominent factors in the committee assignment process.
- Communicable disease: means human immunodeficiency virus, (HIV, the virus that causes AIDS), and hepatitis B. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 1201A
- Communications media: means television, radio, newspaper or other periodical, sign, Internet, mail or telephone. See Delaware Code Title 15 Sec. 8002
- Complaint: A written statement by the plaintiff stating the wrongs allegedly committed by the defendant.
- Continuance: Putting off of a hearing ot trial until a later time.
- Contribution: means any advance, deposit, gift, expenditure or transfer, of money or any other thing of value, to or for the benefit of any candidate or political committee involved in an election, including without limitation any:
- Customer: means any member of the public who is provided access to a tanning facility in exchange for a fee or other compensation or any individual who, in exchange for a fee or other compensation, is afforded use of a tanning facility as a condition or benefit of membership or access. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 3002D
- Damages: Money paid by defendants to successful plaintiffs in civil cases to compensate the plaintiffs for their injuries.
- Dangerous caustic or corrosive substance: means each and all of the acids, alkalis and substances named below:
- Deed: The legal instrument used to transfer title in real property from one person to another.
- Defendant: In a civil suit, the person complained against; in a criminal case, the person accused of the crime.
- Delaware bank holding company: means a bank holding company with bank subsidiaries whose operations are principally conducted in Delaware. See Delaware Code Title 5 Sec. 851
- Delaware savings and loan holding company: means a savings and loan holding company (as defined in the Home Owners' Loan Act, as amended, at 12 U. See Delaware Code Title 5 Sec. 861
- Delaware savings bank: means a savings bank organized and existing under the laws of this State that is not a bank as defined in § 2(c) of the Bank Holding Company Act of 1956, as amended, 12 U. See Delaware Code Title 5 Sec. 861
- Delaware uniform claims and billing data set: shall mean that data approved for use by the State Uniform Billing Committee. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 2002
- Department: means the Department of Health and Social Services. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 3003B
- Department: means the Department of Health and Social Services. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 3002D
- Department: means the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 3001K
- Dependent: A person dependent for support upon another.
- Designated transport personnel: means such personnel as designated by the Director to transport persons with tuberculosis to and from treatment and/or detention facilities, and other sites as ordered by the Director. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 520
- Director: means the Director of the Division of Public Health, or such persons as may be designated by the Director. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 101
- Discharge: means a patient's exit or release from a hospital following an inpatient stay. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 3001J
- Discovery: Lawyers' examination, before trial, of facts and documents in possession of the opponents to help the lawyers prepare for trial.
- Divest: means to transfer all interest, legal or equitable, to a person or other entity in which the transferor has no interest, direct or indirect, or which has no interest, direct or indirect, in the transferor. See Delaware Code Title 5 Sec. 801
- Division: is a s defined in § 902 of this title. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 902B
- Division: means Division of Public Health, Department of Health and Social Services. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 1201A
- Division: means the Division of Public Health. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 101
- Docket: A log containing brief entries of court proceedings.
- Donor: The person who makes a gift.
- Dumping: means the deposit of litter in a substantial quantity on public or private property. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 1603
- Election: means the action by qualified voters of the State either to nominate by vote a candidate for public office or to select a candidate to fill a public office, whether in a primary, general or special election. See Delaware Code Title 15 Sec. 8002
- Election period: means :
- Electioneering communication: means a communication by any individual or other person (other than a candidate committee or a political party) that:
- Electronic smoking device: means any product containing or delivering nicotine or any other similar substance intended for human consumption that can be used by a person to simulate smoking through inhalation of vapor or aerosol from the product. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 2902
- Eligible person: means an individual eligible for the Delaware Prescription Drug Payment Assistance Program under § 3004B of this title. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 3003B
- Emergency: means any condition which interferes with the conduct of normal business operations at 1 or more of a banking organization's offices, or which poses an imminent or existing threat to the safety and security of persons or property, or both. See Delaware Code Title 5 Sec. 1301
- Emergency medical care provider: means a fire fighter, law enforcement officer, paramedic, emergency medical technician, correctional officer, ambulance attendant or other person who serves as an employee or volunteer of an ambulance service and/or provides prehospital emergency medical services. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 1201A
- Employer: means any person, partnership, association, corporation or nonprofit entity that employs 1 or more persons, including the legislative, executive and judicial branches of state government; any county, city, town, village or any other political subdivision of the State, public improvement or special district, public authority, commission, agency or public benefit corporation; or any other separate corporate instrumentality or unit of state or local government. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 2902
- Entitlement: A Federal program or provision of law that requires payments to any person or unit of government that meets the eligibility criteria established by law. Entitlements constitute a binding obligation on the part of the Federal Government, and eligible recipients have legal recourse if the obligation is not fulfilled. Social Security and veterans' compensation and pensions are examples of entitlement programs.
- Equitable: Pertaining to civil suits in "equity" rather than in "law." In English legal history, the courts of "law" could order the payment of damages and could afford no other remedy. See damages. A separate court of "equity" could order someone to do something or to cease to do something. See, e.g., injunction. In American jurisprudence, the federal courts have both legal and equitable power, but the distinction is still an important one. For example, a trial by jury is normally available in "law" cases but not in "equity" cases. Source: U.S. Courts
- Expenditure: means any payment made or debt incurred, by or on behalf of a candidate or political committee, or to assist in the election of any candidate or in connection with any election campaign. See Delaware Code Title 15 Sec. 8002
- Fair market value: The price at which an asset would change hands in a transaction between a willing, informed buyer and a willing, informed seller.
- Federal agency: means and includes the United States of America, any department or bureau thereof, and any agency or instrumentality of the United States of America heretofore established or which may be established or created hereafter. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 1401
- Food service establishment: means any indoor area open to the public or portion thereof in which the principal business is the sale of food for on-premises consumption including, but not limited to, restaurants, cafeterias, coffee shops, diners, sandwich shops or short order cafes. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 2902
- Foreclosure: A legal process in which property that is collateral or security for a loan may be sold to help repay the loan when the loan is in default. Source: OCC
- Fraud: Intentional deception resulting in injury to another.
- general election: shall include any annual election for 1 or more members of a school board pursuant to § 1072(c) of Title 14. See Delaware Code Title 15 Sec. 8002
- Gift: A voluntary transfer or conveyance of property without consideration, or for less than full and adequate consideration based on fair market value.
- Health-care provider: is a s defined in § 714 of this title. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 902B
- Health-care provider: means as defined in § 2501 of this title. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 3001J
- hospital: means a health-care organization that has a governing body, an organized medical and professional staff, and inpatient facilities, and provides either medical diagnosis, treatment and care, nursing and related services for ill and injured patients, or rehabilitation services for the rehabilitation of ill, injured or disabled patients 24 hours per day, 7 days per week and primarily engaged in providing inpatient services. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 1001
- Hospital: shall mean any nonfederal facility licensed as such pursuant to Chapter l0 of this title. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 2002
- Hospital: means as defined in § 1001 of this title. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 3001J
- Indemnification: In general, a collateral contract or assurance under which one person agrees to secure another person against either anticipated financial losses or potential adverse legal consequences. Source: FDIC
- Independent expenditure: means any expenditure made by any individual or other person (other than a candidate committee or a political party) expressly advocating the election or defeat of a clearly identified candidate, which is made without cooperation or consultation with any candidate, or any committee or agent of such candidate, and which is not made in concert with, or at the request or suggestion of, any candidate or any committee or agent of such candidate. See Delaware Code Title 15 Sec. 8002
- Individual: shall mean a singular human being. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 2002
- Indoor area open to the public: means any indoor area or portion thereof generally accessible to the public. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 2902
- Infant: means a person who has not reached the age of 18 years. See Delaware Code Title 1 Sec. 302
- Infant with prenatal substance exposure: means a child not more than 1 year of age who is born with and identified as being affected by substance abuse or withdrawal symptoms or a fetal alcohol spectrum disorder. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 902B
- Injunction: An order of the court prohibiting (or compelling) the performance of a specific act to prevent irreparable damage or injury.
- Institution: means a national bank whose principal place of business is located in Delaware or a Delaware-chartered bank or bank and trust company. See Delaware Code Title 5 Sec. 851
- Interest rate: The amount paid by a borrower to a lender in exchange for the use of the lender's money for a certain period of time. Interest is paid on loans or on debt instruments, such as notes or bonds, either at regular intervals or as part of a lump sum payment when the issue matures. Source: OCC
- Interface: means training the lay caregiver in aftercare tasks contained in the discharge plan in a manner that is consistent with current accepted practices and provided through 1 of the following methods agreed to by the lay caregiver and the hospital: telehealth, as defined in § 3370 of Title 18, telemedicine, as defined in § 3370 of Title 18, or in-person. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 3001J
- Internal information system: is a s defined in § 902 of this title. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 902B
- Investigation Coordinator: is a s defined in § 902 of this title. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 902B
- Joint meeting: An occasion, often ceremonial, when the House and Senate each adopt a unanimous consent agreement
- Judgement: The official decision of a court finally determining the respective rights and claims of the parties to a suit.
- Lay caregiver: includes direct support professionals and shared living providers who are paid staff in a neighborhood group home or shared or community living arrangement, as approved by the Division of Developmental Disabilities Services, and attendant caregivers, as provided for in § 1921(a)(14) and (15) of Title 24. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 3001J
- LIEF: means the Littering Investigation and Enforcement Fund. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 1603
- Litter: includes all rubbish, waste material, refuse, cans, bottles, garbage, trash, debris, dead animals, 1 to 4 balloons released at 1 time, or other discarded materials of every kind and description. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 1603
- Local office: means any political district smaller than the State, including municipal, county, state representative or state senatorial. See Delaware Code Title 15 Sec. 101
- Located: has the meaning specified in § 831 of this title. See Delaware Code Title 5 Sec. 861
- Mailing address: means a physical mailing address, and shall not include a post office box. See Delaware Code Title 15 Sec. 8002
- Mass release of balloons: means the intentional release of 5 or more balloons at 1 time. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 1603
- Maternal depression: means a wide range of emotional and psychological reactions that a woman may experience during pregnancy or after childbirth, as the range of reactions is defined in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 802D
- Mattress: means any quilted pad, mattress, mattress pad, mattress protector, bunk, quilt or box spring stuffed or filled with excelsior, straw, hay, grass, cornhusks, moss, fiber, cotton, wool, hair, jute, kapok or other soft material, to be used on a couch or other bed for sleeping purposes. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 2101
- Medicare Part D costs: means monthly premiums, deductibles, and those drug costs falling into Part D coverage gap up to the Program benefit limits and subject to program co-pay requirements as described in § 3005B(a)(4) of this title. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 3003B
- Membership communication: means a newsletter or periodical, telephone call, or any other communication distributed solely to the members, shareholders, or employees of an organization or institution. See Delaware Code Title 15 Sec. 8002
- Minor: means any individual less than 18 years of age. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 3002D
- Municipality: means any county, city, town, village, sanitary district or other political subdivision of this State. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 1401
- New: means any material or article which has not been previously manufactured or used for any purpose. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 2101
- Nursing home: shall mean any and all rest residential, assisted living facility, skilled care or intermediate nursing facility licensed pursuant to Chapter 11 of this title. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 2002
- Office: means any place at which a banking organization transacts business or conducts operations related to the transaction of business, and shall specifically include, without limiting the generality of the foregoing, automatic teller machines. See Delaware Code Title 5 Sec. 1301
- Officer: means :
- Officers: means those persons designated by the banking organization's board of directors or trustees to act for the banking organization. See Delaware Code Title 5 Sec. 1301
- Out-of-state bank holding company: has the meaning specified in the Bank Holding Company Act of 1956, as amended (12 U. See Delaware Code Title 5 Sec. 801
- Out-of-state bank holding company: means an out-of-state bank holding company as defined in § 801(2) of this title. See Delaware Code Title 5 Sec. 821
- Oversight: Committee review of the activities of a Federal agency or program.
- Peace Officer: means any public officer authorized by law to make arrests in a criminal case. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 101
- Person: shall mean an individual, trust or estate, a partnership, a corporation (including associations, joint stock companies and insurance companies), or a state or political subdivision or instrumentality (including a municipal corporation) of a state. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 2002
- Person: includes any individual, corporation, company, incorporated or unincorporated association, general or limited partnership, society, joint stock company, and any other organization or institution of any nature. See Delaware Code Title 15 Sec. 8002
- Phototherapy device: means equipment that emits ultraviolet radiation and is used in the diagnosis or treatment of disease or injury. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 3002D
- Place of employment: means any indoor area or portion thereof under the control of an employer in which employees of the employer perform services but that is not generally accessible to the public. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 2902
- Plan: means a written or electronic plan to ensure the safety and well-being of an infant with prenatal substance exposure following the release from the care of a health-care provider by addressing the health and substance use treatment needs of the infant and affected family or caregiver, and monitoring these plans to ensure appropriate referrals are made and services are delivered to the infant and affected family or caregiver. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 902B
- Planning of solid waste collection and disposal systems: means engineering or planning services to survey, plan, develop and supervise the establishment or construction of comprehensive solid waste collection and disposal systems. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 1801
- Pleadings: Written statements of the parties in a civil case of their positions. In the federal courts, the principal pleadings are the complaint and the answer.
- Political action committee: means a political committee which is neither a political party nor a candidate committee. See Delaware Code Title 15 Sec. 8002
- Political committee: means :
- political party: includes all constituent parts of such party, including the statewide, county, regional, municipal and district committees, all finance committees and all other committees, subdivisions and organizations related to the political party. See Delaware Code Title 15 Sec. 8002
- Power of attorney: A written instrument which authorizes one person to act as another's agent or attorney. The power of attorney may be for a definite, specific act, or it may be general in nature. The terms of the written power of attorney may specify when it will expire. If not, the power of attorney usually expires when the person granting it dies. Source: OCC
- Prescription drugs: means drugs that are self-administered or administered by a lay person that have been approved as safe and effective by the Federal Food and Drug Administration or are otherwise legally marketed in the United States. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 3003B
- Presiding officer: A majority-party Senator who presides over the Senate and is charged with maintaining order and decorum, recognizing Members to speak, and interpreting the Senate's rules, practices and precedents.
- Probable cause: A reasonable ground for belief that the offender violated a specific law.
- Program: means the Prescription Drug Payment Assistance Program. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 3003B
- Project: means any water system, sewer system and any combination or part or parts thereof owned, constructed or operated by an authority under this chapter. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 1401
- Protective counter: means a separate counter built into the voting machine, which cannot be reset, which records the total number of movements of the operating lever. See Delaware Code Title 15 Sec. 101
- Public building: means any building owned or operated by the State, including the legislative, executive and judicial branches of state government; any county, city, town, village or any other political subdivision of the State, public improvement or special district, public authority, commission, agency or public benefit corporation; or any other separate corporate instrumentality or unit of state or local government. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 2902
- Public lands: includes federal, state, county, municipal, or other government-owned lands. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 3001K
- Public law: A public bill or joint resolution that has passed both chambers and been enacted into law. Public laws have general applicability nationwide.
- Public office: means an office of this State or any political subdivision thereof which is required by law to be determined by an election. See Delaware Code Title 15 Sec. 8002
- Public or private property: includes the right-of-way of any road or highway; any body of water or watercourse, or the shores or beaches thereof; any park, playground, building, refuge, or conservation or recreation area; and any residential or farm properties, timberlands, or forests. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 1603
- Publicly distributed: means aired, broadcast, delivered or otherwise disseminated to members of the public. See Delaware Code Title 15 Sec. 8002
- Qualified agency: means the Levy Court or county council of the counties. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 1801
- Raw data: shall mean any information collected pursuant to this chapter which has not been approved for release by the state agency. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 2002
- Receiving medical facility: means a hospital or similar facility that receives a patient attended by an emergency medical care provider for the purposes of continued medical care. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 1201A
- Recess: A temporary interruption of the legislative business.
- Records: shall mean the recordings of interviews and all oral or written reports, statements, minutes, memoranda, charts, statistics, data and other documentation generated by the State EMS Medical Director. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 3002C
- Residence: means a dwelling considered by a patient to be the patient's home. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 3001J
- Responsible party: means any natural person who shares or exercises discretion or control over the activities of any entity required to file reports in accordance with this chapter, and shall include any officer, director, partner, proprietor or other natural person who exercises discretion or control over the activities of such entity. See Delaware Code Title 15 Sec. 8002
- Restitution: The court-ordered payment of money by the defendant to the victim for damages caused by the criminal action.
- School board: means the board of education of a reorganized school district consisting of members duly elected or appointed in accordance with Title 14. See Delaware Code Title 15 Sec. 8002
- Secondhand: means any material or article of which prior use has been made. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 2101
- Secretary: means the Secretary of the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 3001K
- Secretary: means the Secretary of the Department of Health and Social Services or such persons as may be designated by the Secretary. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 101
- Service of process: The service of writs or summonses to the appropriate party.
- Settlement: Parties to a lawsuit resolve their difference without having a trial. Settlements often involve the payment of compensation by one party in satisfaction of the other party's claims.
- Sewage: means the water carried wastes created in and carried or to be carried away from residences, hotels, schools, hospitals, industrial establishments, commercial establishments or any other private or public building together with such household and industrial wastes as may be present. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 1401
- Sewerage system: means and includes all plants, systems, facilities or properties used or useful or having the present capacity for future use in connection with the collection, carrying away, treating, neutralizing, stabilizing or disposal of sewage, industrial wastes or other wastes, and any integral part thereof, including sewage treatment plants, disposal fields, lagoons, pumping stations, drainage ditches, surface water intercepting ditches, outfall sewers, trunk sewers, intercepting sewers, lateral sewers, force mains, pipes, pipelines, conduits, equipment, appurtenances and all properties, rights, easements and franchises relating thereto and deemed necessary or convenient by the authority for the operation thereof. - Shoddy: means any material which has been spun into yarn, knit or woven into fabric and subsequently cut up, torn up, broken up or ground up. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 2101
- Sign: means any outdoor billboard, panel or similar display having an area of at least 3 square feet. See Delaware Code Title 15 Sec. 8002

- Solid waste: means that material that is made up of residential, domestic, institutional, commercial, agricultural, industrial and street or highway refuse. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 1801
- Special election: means :
- State agency: shall mean the Division of Public Health within the Department of Health and Social Services. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 2002
- State assisted bank: means a bank which the State has, in order to relieve financial distress determined to exist by the State Bank Commissioner, assisted by means of a grant, loan, asset purchase or deposit made pursuant to a plan or agreement if:

- Subsidiary: means a subsidiary as defined in § 801(6) of this title. See Delaware Code Title 5 Sec. 821
- Substance abuse: means the chronic, habitual, regular, or recurrent use of alcohol, inhalants, or controlled substances as identified in Chapter 47 of this title. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 902B
- Substantial quantity: means a gross, uncompressed volume of litter equal to or greater than 32 gallons or 4. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 1603
- Summons: Another word for subpoena used by the criminal justice system.
- Tanning device: means equipment that emits electromagnetic radiation having wavelengths in the air between 200 and 400 nanometers and that is used for tanning of human skin and any equipment used with that equipment, including but not limited to protective eyewear, timers and handrails. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 3002D
- Tanning facility: means any location, place, area, structure, or business that provides customers access to any tanning device. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 3002D
- Tavern: includes inn. See Delaware Code Title 1 Sec. 302
- Testify: Answer questions in court.
- Third-party advertisement: means an independent expenditure or an electioneering communication. See Delaware Code Title 15 Sec. 8002
- Third-party payers: shall mean any person authorized to transact health insurance or to engage in the business of a health service corporation in this State. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 2002
- Transcript: A written, word-for-word record of what was said, either in a proceeding such as a trial or during some other conversation, as in a transcript of a hearing or oral deposition.
- Treasurer: means the individual appointed by a candidate to assist the candidate with the duties imposed by this chapter. See Delaware Code Title 15 Sec. 8002
- Trial: A hearing that takes place when the defendant pleads "not guilty" and witnesses are required to come to court to give evidence.
- Universal precautions: means those precautions, including the appropriate use of hand washing, protective barriers, and care in the use and disposal of needles and other sharp instruments that minimize the risk of transmission of communicable diseases between patients and health-care providers. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 1201A
- Vapor establishment: means a business that:
- Veto: The procedure established under the Constitution by which the President/Governor refuses to approve a bill or joint resolution and thus prevents its enactment into law. A regular veto occurs when the President/Governor returns the legislation to the house in which it originated. The President/Governor usually returns a vetoed bill with a message indicating his reasons for rejecting the measure. In Congress, the veto can be overridden only by a two-thirds vote in both the Senate and the House.
- Voluntary treatment: means a person voluntarily taking medications as prescribed and following the recommendations of the attending physician or the Division for the management of tuberculosis. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 520
- water supply system: means all plants, systems, facilities or properties used or useful, or having the present capacity for future use, in connection with the supply or distribution of water, and any integral part thereof, including water distribution systems, mains, laterals, pumping stations, standpipes, filtration plants, purification plants, hydrants, meters, valves and equipment, appurtenances and all properties, rights, easements and franchises relating thereto and deemed necessary or convenient by the authority for the operation thereof. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 1501
- Water system: means and includes all plants, systems, facilities or properties used or useful or having the present capacity for future use in connection with the supply or distribution of water, and any integral part thereof, including water supply systems, water distribution systems, reservoirs, dams, wells, intakes, mains, laterals, pumping stations, standpipes, filtration plants, purification plants, hydrants, meters, valves and equipment, appurtenances and all properties, rights, easements and franchises relating thereto and deemed necessary or convenient by the authority for the operation thereof. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 1401
- Withdrawal symptoms: means a group of behavioral and physiological features in the infant that follow the abrupt discontinuation of a drug that has the capability of producing physical dependence. See Delaware Code Title 16 Sec. 902B
- Writ: A formal written command, issued from the court, requiring the performance of a specific act.
