153.81 Ad valorem maintenance tax.
In addition to the ad valorem taxes authorized to be levied to pay the principal of and interest on general obligation bonds, or as additional security for revenue bonds or assessment bonds, any district is authorized to levy a special ad valorem maintenance tax of a sufficient number of mills upon the dollar of assessed valuation of property subject to taxation in the district to pay for the maintenance and operation and other corporate purposes of said district; provided, however, that such special maintenance tax shall in no event exceed 5 mills during any one year. Such special maintenance tax shall be levied and collected in the manner provided herein for ad valorem taxes levied and collected for debt service on bonds issued pursuant to this law.
