Terms Used In Florida Regulations 49B-1.011

  • Settlement: Parties to a lawsuit resolve their difference without having a trial. Settlements often involve the payment of compensation by one party in satisfaction of the other party's claims.
    (1) To the General Manager to hire or terminate the employment of any employee; to recommend and maintain personnel rules which shall be made available for public inspection; to secure services, labor or material costing $100,000.00 or less; to prepare proposed budgets; to advise the Board on budget matters; to keep correct minutes and records of Board meetings; to prepare agendas; to represent Tampa Bay Water at public hearings; to serve as the registered agent of Tampa Bay Water; and to act in accordance with Board direction on behalf of the Board with the concurrence of the General Counsel and Chairman in matters relating to settlement of regulatory and legal actions when the total amount in controversy does not exceed $100,000.00, settlement of property acquisition matters, initiation of legal action, and referral of amended requests for hearing to the Division of Administrative Hearings.
    (2) It is recognized that in making the foregoing delegations of authority, that the Board shall continue to retain and exercise general supervisory authority over the matters stated therein.
