A certificate of deposit is an interest bearing certificate of deposit deposited by a citrus fruit dealer in a national or Florida chartered bank or a savings and loan association which shall be assigned to the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and shall be in lieu of a surety bond as required in Florida Statutes § 601.61
