(1) To verify an applicant’s experience the Board will accept evidence as to employment from employers or supervisors who are registered surveyors and mappers, and if such evidence is unavailable, the Board will consider written documentation from a registered surveyor and mapper who has personal knowledge of the applicant’s experience. Such evidence shall set forth the quality and character of the applicant’s duties and responsibilities. A National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) Record will be acceptable as evidence.

Terms Used In Florida Regulations 5J-17.020

  • Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
    (2) The term “”year”” as appears in Florida Statutes § 472.013, when referring to an applicants’ experience record, is defined as twelve (12) months of full time employment as a subordinate to a registered surveyor and mapper in the active practice of surveying and mapping. Full time employment is at least 32 hours per week.
    (3) Experience while in “”responsible charge”” gained through full time employment before an applicant has reached the age of eighteen (18) may not be used to meet the experience record requirements of Florida Statutes § 472.013, exceptions to said rule shall be made on a case by case basis subject to Board approval.
