In an outpatient dental office, and pursuant to Florida Statutes § 466.002(2), a dentist may supervise a qualified anesthetist who is administering anesthetic for a dental procedure on a patient of the supervising dentist. The type of supervision required is direct supervision as defined in Florida Statutes § 466.003(8) In an outpatient dental office, the supervising dentist must have a valid permit for administering sedation to the level of sedation that the qualified anesthetist will be administering to the dental patient during the dental procedure. The dentist must maintain all office equipment and medical supplies required by this chapter to the level of the sedation that the qualified anesthetist will administer to the dental patient.
