(1) An operator and at least one other individual trained and prepared to render or summon assistance promptly if the access control alarm sounds shall be present on site whenever a panoramic irradiator is operated using an automatic product conveyor system and whenever the product is moved into or out of the radiation room when the irradiator is operated in a batch mode.

(2) At an underwater irradiator, an operator must be present whenever the product is moved into or out of the pool. Individuals who move the product into or out of the pool of an underwater irradiator need not be qualified as irradiator operators; however, they must have received the training described in subsections 64E-5.1416(6) and (7), F.A.C. Static irradiation can be performed without a person present at the facility only if the personnel access barrier around the pool is locked to prevent unauthorized entry and all required alarms are operable.
