Terms Used In Florida Statutes 1011.03

  • Amendment: A proposal to alter the text of a pending bill or other measure by striking out some of it, by inserting new language, or both. Before an amendment becomes part of the measure, thelegislature must agree to it.

(1) Each district school board shall cause a summary of its tentative budget, including the proposed millage levies as provided for by law, to be posted on the district’s official website or on a publicly accessible website as provided in s. 50.0311.
(2) The advertisement shall appear adjacent to the advertisement required pursuant to s. 200.065. The State Board of Education may adopt rules necessary to provide specific requirements for the format of the advertisement.
(3) The board shall hold public hearings to adopt tentative and final budgets pursuant to s. 200.065. The hearings shall be primarily for the purpose of hearing requests and complaints from the public regarding the budgets and the proposed tax levies and for explaining the budget and proposed or adopted amendments thereto, if any. The tentative budget must be posted on the district’s official website at least 2 days before the budget hearing held pursuant to s. 200.065 or other law. The final adopted budget must be posted on the district’s official website within 30 days after adoption. The board shall require the superintendent to transmit the adopted budget to the Department of Education as prescribed by law and rules of the State Board of Education.
(4) If the governing body of a district amends the budget, the adopted amendment must be posted on the official website of the district within 5 days after adoption.
