- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
Any state, county, or municipal agency or authority charged with the maintenance and construction of public roads and bridges is authorized to construct and maintain pedestrian walkways, fishing walks, or fishing bays on public bridges under its jurisdiction whenever it is deemed necessary to do so in the interest of safety.
