Terms Used In Florida Statutes 553.996
- Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
- Mortgage: The written agreement pledging property to a creditor as collateral for a loan.
- Real property: Land, and all immovable fixtures erected on, growing on, or affixed to the land.
A prospective purchaser of real property with a building for occupancy located thereon shall be provided information at the time of or before the purchaser’s execution of the contract for sale and purchase which notifies the purchaser of the option for an energy-efficiency rating on the building. Building energy-efficiency rating system providers identified in this part shall prepare such information and make it available for distribution. Such information relevant to that class of building must include, but need not be limited to:
(1) How to analyze the building’s energy-efficiency rating.
(2) Comparisons to statewide averages for new and existing construction of that class.
(3) Information concerning methods to improve the building’s energy-efficiency rating.
(4) A notice to residential purchasers that the energy-efficiency rating may qualify the purchaser for an energy-efficient mortgage from lending institutions.
