Terms Used In Florida Statutes 61.735
- Deploying parent: means a servicemember who is deployed or has been notified of impending deployment and is:(a) A parent of a child; or(b) An individual who has custodial responsibility for a child. See Florida Statutes 61.703
- Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
- person: includes individuals, children, firms, associations, joint adventures, partnerships, estates, trusts, business trusts, syndicates, fiduciaries, corporations, and all other groups or combinations. See Florida Statutes 1.01
- Servicemember: means a member of a uniformed service. See Florida Statutes 61.703
- Testimony: Evidence presented orally by witnesses during trials or before grand juries.
In a proceeding for a temporary custody order, a deploying parent or servicemember witness who is not reasonably able to appear in person may appear, provide testimony, and present evidence by telephonic, electronic, or web-based means. The deploying parent or servicemember witness must be sworn in by an officer authorized to administer oaths under federal law.
