- Lien: A claim against real or personal property in satisfaction of a debt.
- Mortgage: The written agreement pledging property to a creditor as collateral for a loan.
A mortgage shall be held to be a specific lien on the property therein described, and not a conveyance of the legal title or of the right of possession.
