- Department: means the Department of Management Services. See Florida Statutes 121.021
- Pension: means monthly payments to a retiree derived as provided in this chapter. See Florida Statutes 121.021
- person: includes individuals, children, firms, associations, joint adventures, partnerships, estates, trusts, business trusts, syndicates, fiduciaries, corporations, and all other groups or combinations. See Florida Statutes 1.01
All powers, duties, and functions related to the administration of laws providing special pensions to individuals, including chapter 18054, Laws of Florida, 1937; chapter 26788, Laws of Florida, 1951, as amended by chapter 57-871, Laws of Florida; chapter 26836, Laws of Florida, 1951; and chapter 63-953, Laws of Florida, are vested in the department. All laws hereinafter enacted by the Legislature pertaining to special pensions for individuals shall be administered by the department, unless contrary provisions are contained in such law. Upon the death of any person receiving a monthly pension under this section, the monthly pension shall be paid through the last day of the month of death and shall terminate on that date, unless contrary provisions are contained in the special pension law.
