State attorneys, or other prosecuting officers of the state or county, and sheriffs and their deputies of the several counties of this state, shall assist the department in enforcement of this part. The officers and their deputies shall, upon information that any persons, firms, or corporations are violating any of the provisions of this part, report the same, together with the information in their possession relating thereto, to the department and shall cooperate with the department in carrying out the provisions of this part. The state attorneys and other prosecuting officers of the state or any county, upon the request of the department, shall institute and maintain such legal proceedings as may be necessary to carry out the enforcement of the provisions of this part.
