Terms Used In Florida Statutes 310.061
- Board: means the Board of Pilot Commissioners. See Florida Statutes 310.002
- Piloting: means the acts of pilots in conducting vessels through the pilotage waters of the state. See Florida Statutes 310.002
- Port: means any place in the state into which vessels enter or depart and includes, without limitation, Fernandina, Nassau Inlet, Jacksonville, St. See Florida Statutes 310.002
The board shall determine the number of pilots based on the supply and demand for piloting services and the public interest in maintaining efficient and safe piloting services. Based on the economic conditions of the port, the board may adopt rules authorizing cross licensing between ports, if this will best serve the public interest.
