Terms Used In Florida Statutes 491.006
- Board: means the Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, and Mental Health Counseling. See Florida Statutes 491.003
- Clinical social worker: means a person licensed under this chapter to practice clinical social work. See Florida Statutes 491.003
- Department: means the Department of Health. See Florida Statutes 491.003
- Marriage and family therapist: means a person licensed under this chapter to practice marriage and family therapy. See Florida Statutes 491.003
- Mental health counselor: means a person licensed under this chapter to practice mental health counseling. See Florida Statutes 491.003
- person: includes individuals, children, firms, associations, joint adventures, partnerships, estates, trusts, business trusts, syndicates, fiduciaries, corporations, and all other groups or combinations. See Florida Statutes 1.01
- Social worker: means a person who has a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree in social work. See Florida Statutes 491.003
1(1) The department shall license or grant a certificate to a person in a profession regulated by this chapter who, upon applying to the department and remitting the appropriate fee, demonstrates to the board that he or she meets the requirements for licensure by endorsement under s. 456.0145.
(2) The fees paid by any applicant for certification as a master social worker under this section are nonrefundable.
(3) A person licensed as a clinical social worker, marriage and family therapist, or mental health counselor in another state who is practicing under the Professional Counselors Licensure Compact pursuant to s. 491.017, and only within the scope provided therein, is exempt from the licensure requirements of this section, as applicable.
