- Damages: Money paid by defendants to successful plaintiffs in civil cases to compensate the plaintiffs for their injuries.
- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.

See Florida Statutes 501.203A person aggrieved by a violation of this part may bring an action in a court of competent jurisdiction. A court may award the following remedies to a prevailing plaintiff in an action brought pursuant to this section:(1) Equitable relief;(2) Actual damages;(3) Costs and fees, including reasonable attorney fees; and(4) Punitive damages in an amount not to exceed $75,000. However, such punitive damages may only be awarded if the court determines that the person asserting the patent infringement claim has repeatedly violated this part.
