- Health maintenance organization: means any organization authorized under this part which:(a) Provides, through arrangements with other persons, emergency care, inpatient hospital services, physician care including care provided by physicians licensed under chapters 458, 459, 460, and 461, ambulatory diagnostic treatment, and preventive health care services. See Florida Statutes 641.19A health maintenance organization may not discriminate with respect to participation as to any advanced practice registered nurse licensed pursuant to s. 464.012, who is acting within the scope of such license, solely on the basis of such license. This section may not be construed to prohibit a plan from including providers only to the extent necessary to meet the needs of the plan’s enrollees or from establishing any measure designed to maintain quality and control costs consistent with the responsibilities of the plan.
