- Appraisal: A determination of property value.
- Appropriation: The provision of funds, through an annual appropriations act or a permanent law, for federal agencies to make payments out of the Treasury for specified purposes. The formal federal spending process consists of two sequential steps: authorization
- Assets: (1) The property comprising the estate of a deceased person, or (2) the property in a trust account.
- Bonds: shall mean general obligation bonds issued pursuant to the "clean water, clean air, and green jobs environmental bond act of 2022 " in accordance with Article of the New York state constitution and article five of the state finance law. See N.Y. Environmental Conservation Law 58-0101
- Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
- Cost: means the expense of an approved project, which shall include but not be limited to appraisal, surveying, planning, engineering and architectural services, plans and specifications, consultant and legal services, site preparation, demolition, construction and other direct expenses incident to such project. - Department: shall mean the department of environmental conservation. See N.Y. Environmental Conservation Law 58-0101
- Disadvantaged communities: shall mean a community that is identified pursuant to section 75-0111 of this chapter. See N.Y. Environmental Conservation Law 58-0101
- Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
- Fair market value: The price at which an asset would change hands in a transaction between a willing, informed buyer and a willing, informed seller.
- Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2006 begins on October 1, 2005 and ends on September 30, 2006.
- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
- Lease: A contract transferring the use of property or occupancy of land, space, structures, or equipment in consideration of a payment (e.g., rent). Source: OCC
- Liabilities: The aggregate of all debts and other legal obligations of a particular person or legal entity.
- Municipality: means a local public authority or public benefit corporation, a county, city, town, village, school district, supervisory district, district corporation, improvement district within a county, city, town or village, or Indian nation or tribe recognized by the state or the United States with a reservation wholly or partly within the boundaries of New York state, or any combination thereof. - Obligation: An order placed, contract awarded, service received, or similar transaction during a given period that will require payments during the same or a future period.
- Open space land conservation project: means purchase of fee title or conservation easements for the purpose of protecting lands or waters and/or providing recreational opportunities for the public that (i) possess ecological, habitat, recreational or scenic values; (ii) protect the quality of a drinking water supply; (iii) provide flood control or flood mitigation values; (iv) constitute a floodplain; (v) provide or have the potential to provide important habitat connectivity; (vi) provide open space for the use and enjoyment of the public; or (vii) provide community gardens in urban areas. - Personal property: All property that is not real property.
- Real property: Land, and all immovable fixtures erected on, growing on, or affixed to the land.
- Sequester: To separate. Sometimes juries are sequestered from outside influences during their deliberations.
- State entity: means any state department, division, agency, office, public authority, or public benefit corporation. See N.Y. Environmental Conservation Law 58-0101
