§ 9. Executive director. The office shall exercise its authority, other than powers and duties specifically granted to the board, by and through an executive director nominated by the governor and with the advice and consent of the senate. The executive director shall serve for a term of three years and once confirmed, may only be removed for good cause with appropriate notice. The executive director of the state office of cannabis management shall receive an annual salary not to exceed an amount appropriated therefor by the legislature and his or her expenses actually and necessarily incurred in the performance of his or her official duties, unless otherwise provided by the legislature.

- Advice and consent: Under the Constitution, presidential nominations for executive and judicial posts take effect only when confirmed by the Senate, and international treaties become effective only when the Senate approves them by a two-thirds vote.
