* § 97-rrr. School tax relief fund. 1. There is hereby established in the joint custody of the comptroller and the commissioner of taxation and finance a special fund to be known as the school tax relief fund.

Terms Used In N.Y. State Finance Law 97-RRR

  • Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2006 begins on October 1, 2005 and ends on September 30, 2006.
  • Real property: Land, and all immovable fixtures erected on, growing on, or affixed to the land.

2. Such fund shall consist of all monies credited or transferred thereto from the general fund or from any other fund or sources pursuant to law.

3. The monies in such fund shall be appropriated for school property tax exemptions granted pursuant to the real property tax law and payable pursuant to § 3609-e of the education law.

4. All payments from the fund shall be made on the audit and warrant of the comptroller on vouchers approved by the commissioner of the state education department.

5. Notwithstanding the provisions of § 171-a of the tax law, as separately amended by chapters four hundred eighty-one and four hundred eighty-four of the laws of nineteen hundred eighty-one, and notwithstanding the provisions of chapter ninety-four of the laws of two thousand eleven, or any other provisions of law to the contrary, during the fiscal year beginning April first, two thousand twenty-three, the state comptroller is hereby authorized and directed to deposit to the fund created pursuant to this § of the tax law and pursuant to a schedule submitted by the director of the budget, up to $1,716,913,000 as may be certified in such schedule as necessary to meet the purposes of such fund for the fiscal year beginning April first, two thousand twenty-three.
