- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
The proof or acknowledgment of an instrument may be made outside of the Territory of Guam, but within the United States, and within the jurisdiction of the officer, before either:
(a) A justice, judge, or clerk of any court of record of the United
States; or,
(b) A justice, judge, or clerk of any court of record of any state; or, (c) A Notary Public; or,
(d) Any other officer of the state where the acknowledgment is made
authorized by its laws to take such proof or acknowledgment.
