- Answer: The formal written statement by a defendant responding to a civil complaint and setting forth the grounds for defense.
- Arrest: Taking physical custody of a person by lawful authority.
- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
Every warrant of commitment, issued by a court or officer pursuant to this Chapter, must specify therein particularly the cause of the commitment, and if it be for refusing to answer a question, such question must be stated in the warrant. this Chapter, or pursuant to the Guam Rules of Civil Procedure, must be directed to the Director of Public Safety, or other peace officer, and must be executed by him in the same manner as process issued by a court having jurisdiction.
