- Department: means the department of human services. See Hawaii Revised Statutes 346-1
- Public assistance: means financial assistance to or for the benefit of persons whom the department has determined to be without sufficient means of support to maintain a standard consistent with this chapter, payments to or on behalf of such persons for medical care, and social service payments as described under the Social Security Act. See Hawaii Revised Statutes 346-1
The department shall be subrogated to the right of such child or children or person having the care, custody, and control of such child or children to the debt created under section public assistance for child requires payment of child support to department by natural or adoptive parents” class=”unlinked-ref” datatype=”S” sessionyear=”2019″ statecd=”HI”>346-37.1. Any judicial or administrative action to collect the debt for the department shall be undertaken by the child support enforcement agency under chapter 576D.
