- Department: means the department of corrections and rehabilitation. See Hawaii Revised Statutes 353-1
- Director: means the director of corrections and rehabilitation; provided that the signing or approval of vouchers and other routine matters may be delegated by the director to any authorized subordinate. See Hawaii Revised Statutes 353-1
The director shall appoint, without regard to chapter 76, three deputy directors to serve at the director’s pleasure. Unless otherwise assigned by the director, one deputy director shall oversee the correctional institutions of the department including prisons and jails within the State and any contracts for the custody and care of Hawaii inmates housed outside of the State, one deputy director shall oversee the rehabilitation services and programs of the department, and one deputy director shall oversee administration of the department.
