- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.

This chapter applies to all domestic corporations in existence on July 1, 2001 that were incorporated under any general statute of this State providing for incorporation of corporations for profit if the power to amend or repeal the statute under which the corporation was incorporated was reserved.
