Terms Used In Hawaii Revised Statutes 421-22
- Association: means any corporation organized under this chapter for the mutual benefit of its members, as agricultural producers, and which confines its operations to purposes authorized by this chapter and restricts the return on the stock or membership capital and the amount of its business with nonmembers to the limits placed thereon by this chapter for associations organized hereunder; provided that any fish marketing association organized pursuant to chapter 422 and in existence on May 7, 1991, shall be considered an association for purposes of this chapter. - Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
- Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2006 begins on October 1, 2005 and ends on September 30, 2006.
- Member: includes the holder of a membership in an association without capital stock or the holder of common stock in [an] association organized with capital stock. See Hawaii Revised Statutes 421-1
provided that if an association is formed in the same year in which the annual report is due, the association shall not be required to file an annual report for that year. Thereafter, the association shall comply with the requirements of this section.
