Terms Used In Hawaii Revised Statutes 483-1
- Tort: A civil wrong or breach of a duty to another person, as outlined by law. A very common tort is negligent operation of a motor vehicle that results in property damage and personal injury in an automobile accident.
In this chapter, unless otherwise expressly stated:
“Obligation” does not include a liability in tort.
“Obligee” does not include a person having a right based on a tort.
“Obligor” does not include a person liable for a tort.
“Several obligors” means obligors severally bound for the same performance.
