- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
The court, in all matters over which it has jurisdiction, may enforce its orders or decrees in the same manner as decrees are enforced in actions in the nature of suits in equity, and upon the request of the judge, the chief of police shall assign an officer to attend the sittings of the court.
